- An OC is a persona not based on any known IP — the creator built the character, the world, the voice, and the lore from scratch. The Original / OC category surfaces characters where the creator emphasised originality. Many top-rated characters in other categories are OCs that happen to fit a sub-genre.
- Why pick an OC over a fandom character?
- OCs carry no expectations from a source text — you meet a stranger, and the voice and world are revealed on the page.
